課程概述 |
保健強身與預防疾病的觀念與措施，自古以來就存在於每個人類社會，但現代意義的公共衛生緣起於工業革命衝擊之下的西方社會，公共衛生的發展也與西方國家的擴張息息相關。當公衛學者致力於研究人口健康問題，並積極尋求促進群體健康的各種策略之時，從社會歷史的角度來分析，「公共衛生」卻也常常是國家力量介入規範個人身體的具體表徵；公衛政策的制訂以及所仰賴的科學知識，也被認為與社會權力結構息息相關。到底公衛的本質為何？公衛的內容如何隨著社會轉型、政治轉型而改變？在這堂課中，我們將從社會歷史的角度，藉由文獻研讀歷史案例討論，探索公衛這個學科領域的歷史緣起與發展過程，並分析公衛知識與公衛政策在不同的時空背景之下所扮演的社會角色。 |

藉由這門入門課程，我們希望公衛的學生除了實證科學的訓練之外，也能具備寬廣的歷史觀與社會觀，並能思索反省自身學科所處的社會位置。 |
